In the hamlet of Vacciago, there is a collection of contemporary art that the artist Antonio Calderara wanted to leave as a testimony to the avant-garde artistic trends from around 1920 to 1978, the year of his death. There you can admire a total of 327 works by 133 different world-renowned authors.

The town of Ameno is located in the hills of Lake Orta, and it is part of the Mountain Community of Two Lakes (Orta and Maggiore’s Lake), Cusio Mottarone, and Val Strona. On 26 September 2012, it was granted the green flag and the “sustainable town of Piedmont – location for a more responsible tourism” awarded to local communities that have implemented good environmental practices.
The town has less than a thousand inhabitants, but in summer comes to life thanks to the many tourists who occupy the houses and villas which are located in the area of Lake Orta.
In the main square, there is a beautiful gothic garden, recently renovated, which sometimes hosts some events. Definitely worth a visit!
